The Vanishing Box

The holiday season of 1953 brings a chilling mystery to the coastal town of Brighton. Detective Inspector Edgar Stephens is called to a disturbing crime scene where a young woman named Lily has been murdered. Her body is meticulously posed amidst a floral display, resembling a carefully orchestrated performance rather than a random act of violence.

At the same time, Edgar's friend and illusionist Max Mephisto is performing at the local Hippodrome. The theatre's current variety program features an act where performers stand completely still to recreate classical paintings. As the police investigation deepens, Edgar and Max discover troubling parallels between the victim's macabre arrangement and the stage performances.
